Suzuki Australia has not confirmed timing, specification or model grades but that will be revealed closer to launch in 2024.
While the current Australian-spec Swift is available with a trio of engine choices depending on grade - a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated three-cylinder, a 1.0-litre turbo unit, or a 1.4-litre turbo in the Swift Sport - the new version comes with a “newly developed” 1.2-litre unit with a mild-hybrid system.
Mated to a new continuously variable transmission (CVT), the mild-hybrid engine is so because of a generator mounted in the drivetrain that is “used to assist the engine” and, Suzuki says, makes it more efficient.
According to the Japanese website, a non-hybrid variant that appears to be a base model will also be available and, though it’s not confirmed, it’s likely to run the existing version of the 1.2-litre three.
New tech comes along with the updated hatch too, including a 9.0-inch multimedia screen as the headliner for a facelifted interior layout.
