It seems like every month there is a new BYD model revealed in China and that's because the company is building a lot of new electric cars fast. And now there's news of another upcoming small electric SUV called the Yuan UP, which could steal sales from the MG ZS EV.
BYD might not be happy about news of their latest SUV - the Yuan UP - being revealed online, but millions of buyers around the world would be pleased to hear what's being served up next by the Chinese electric carmaker.
Specifications and images of the Yuan UP small electric SUV appeared on the Car News China site over the weekend thanks to a Chinese law which makes it mandatory for carmakers to publish details of all new vehicles with the regulatory body.
According to Car News China the Yuan UP measures 4310mm long, 1830mm wide and 1675mm tall, which is the same length as the MG ZS EV but slightly wider and taller. The Yuan UP's wheelbase is also 35mm longer at 2620mm.
The Yuan UP will come with a choice of two motors - one with a 70kW output and the other making 130kW.
Images released of the Yuan UP show a boxy and angular looking five-seater SUV with robust looking protective cladding to the sides of the car.
Sleek tail-lights connected by an LED strip accentuates the SUV's width from behind.

It's also interesting to note that the Build Your Dreams badge has been shorted to BYD across the tailgate.
With the Yuan still not even available yet in its home country the timing and prices for Australia is unknown - if it's coming here at all. If the Yuan UP does make it Down Under, you can expect it to be competitively priced against the MG ZS EV which starts at $40,990, before on-road costs.
The Yuan UP uses the same electric platform that underpins the Atto 3 SUV that arrived in Australia in 2022.
Since then BYD has launched Dolphin small electric hatch and Seal EV sedan in Australia, with tough talk also coming from the company about an electric ute they say will arrive within 18 months.
