Beware BMW X4 and Porsche Macan! 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC300 Coupe pricing and features revealed for new swoopy family SUV

Mercedes-Benz has added to its GLC line-up with the swoopy GLC Coupe hitting Australian shores soon to take on its mostly European rivals.

On sale from later this week, the new model will be offered initially in one grade, the GLC300 4Matic Coupe, before sportier AMG variants land some time next year.

This mirrors the model roll out of the new-gen version of the more traditionally designed GLC SUV that rolled into showrooms in July.

The GLC300 4Matic Coupe is priced from $113,900 before on-road costs, which is just over $10,000 more than the GLC300 SUV.

Benz of course isn't alone in offering sporty looking family-friendly mid-size SUVs, and the GLC's closest rival in terms of price and positioning is the BMW X4 xDrive30i AWD, which starts at $106,400 BOC.

The other German, Audi, also has the Q5 45tFSI quattro S line, from a more affordable $94,250 BOC. Other alternatives include the Maserati Grecale GT from $109,500, or the Porsche Macan T AWD at $97,200.

Under the bonnet of the GLC300 Coupe is the same engine in the GLC SUV Twin, and that's a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, with a 48-volt mild-hybrid setup, delivering total power and torque outputs of 190kW and 400Nm.

It drives all four wheels via Benz's 4Matic all-wheel drive system and uses a nine-speed automatic transmission.

It has an extra 31mm in length and 5mm of additional height, while the front and rear tracks have increased by 6mm and 23mm for the front and rear respectively.

The previous GLC Coupe is in runout and selling well for Mercedes, with sales of 1384 units steady compared with the same period last year.
