The Mazda6 is a poster child for the woes of the medium-sized car market, as its sales wither on the vine under the sustained fire of the SUV onslaught.
It's a damn shame, because it truly is a beautiful car, both in appearance and appointments, and it's got excellent road manners.
The current Mazda6 features all of Mazda's newest technology, including 'G-Vectoring' steering control and the excellent 2.5-litre SkyActiv four-cylinder petrol engine, and it's available as a stylish sedan and good-looking (if slightly impractically shaped) wagon.
If you don't really need an SUV then a Mazda6 is a very viable alternative, with prices starting at $35,240 for the 6 Sport up to $55,535 for the 6 20TH Anniversary.
This vehicle is also known as Mazda Atenza (China and Japan).
